I was proud of my team and my own contribution. I was able to help the team execute well and we delivered on all the goals. We also had all the required alignments with partner teams. The main project we got to work on was both exciting and impactful. When I first became an engineering manager, I got to support a team with awesome engineers. So what made Casey so successful where many of his contemporaries failed?

Casey could have won more for Ducati and Honda if he didn’t have health issues. Other world champions, like Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo and Nicky Hayden, attempted to bring the championship back to Ducati after Casey's exit. During his 13 seasons in MotoGP, Honda won 7 rider championships with three different riders, but none with Dani.Ĭasey, on the other hand, remains the only rider who has won the championship for Ducati to this day. He spent his entire racing career with the Honda factory MotoGP team. He never won the MotoGP world championship. I was pretty sad when Dani decided to retire in 2018. He had 131 more points than Dani that season. He dominated the championship that year and won his second MotoGP crown. He was comfortable on the bike right away. When Casey left Ducati and joined Dani at Honda in 2011, he found the Honda so much easier to ride. Despite that, Casey won his and the team's first MotoGP rider championship in his first year with Ducati. When Casey was at factory Ducati MotoGP team, he had to deal with a bike that was very hard to ride. Casey had been racing in dirt before he moved to Europe to pursue a career in road racing. His style earned him the nickname Silent Samurai.Ĭasey Stoner was another favorite rider of mine. He was also one of the fastest riders on the circuit. He overtook people with pure speed, rather than aggression or force. He is able to put the bike exactly where it is supposed to be.

When he was in the zone, he rode the bike with grace. Dani is blessed with the most elegant style of any racer that I know of.

He had a lot of success early in his career and got into MotoGP when he was only 21 years old. Growing up in Spain, the centre of motorcycle road racing, Dani started riding motorcycles when he was four. Dani Pedrosa was one of my favorite motorcycle racers of all time.
